The Couples rectified with Parish Priest
In what may be termed as the willingness of the Church to opens its door to straying members, St. Paul’s Parish Pallel, under the Archdiocese of Imphal, rectified 18 couples on 21st Oct 2020, alongside one regular Holy Marriage, which was solemnized by the Parish Priest. Compelled by various circumstances, the 18 couples had entered into family life without receiving the Sacrament of Marriage. However, the Church welcomed them warmly into the Catholic fold by rectifying their marriages through a very special arrangement despite the Covid-induced hurdles. With lockdown and Government SOPs in force, the attendance to the solemnization ceremony however, was restricted to only immediate families, and the celebration confined to a simple Tea Party after the Holy Mass. Prior to this special ceremony, the couples attended a three –day marriage counseling programme conducted by the Parish Priest and his team of Nuns and Catechists, wherein participants were briefed on tenets of Catholicism, Sacraments, Christian family life and importance of devotions. Flexibility shown by the Church and the gesture of caring extended by the Church was widely appreciated by one and all.
