CAN Hosts an Impressive Convention at Jakhama

The 39th year convention of the Catholic Association of Nagaland (CAN) was hosted at the St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama, wherein over one thousand participants from 36 Parishes and 21 quasi Parishes took part. The four-day event was graced by Most Rev (Dr.) James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima as Chief Patron, and Mr. K. D. Vizo, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Government of Nagaland, as Special Guest. Among others, the highlights of the working sessions incuded talks delivered on “Credible Witnesses of Christ” by Dn. Dr. Sherman Kuek OFS, “Community and Common Good” by John S. Shilshi, IPS (Retd), and “Participation” by Nasazol Charles, State Information Commissioner, Government of Nagaland, and Advisor, CAN. These were followed by an exhortation by Mr. Elias T. Lotha, Commissioner (Transport), Government of Nagaland, and Advisor CAN. During the Convention, the names of the newly elected office bearers of CAN were also formally handed over to Rev. Fr. Neisalhou Carolus, Vicar General & Ecclesiastical Assistant, CAN, while Bishop Thoppil invoked God’s blessings upon the new team. Besides spiritual engagements, cultural programmes and other entertainment attractions were also included as part of the convention highlights.
